Sporting Highlights – Friday 6 November 2020
This week we congratulate Jai L (Second’s House) who competed in the Third Round of the National Karting Championships over Half Term.
By his own admission he had a poor qualifying race, in which he struggled to heat up the tyres, resulting in a starting position quite far from the front. He managed to make up for it with a strong set of heat results and ultimately finished 8th in both the pre-final and the final. Well done Jai!
He also travelled up to Leeds to prepare for a scholarship competition run by car manufacturer Ginetta, the prize being a fully paid for drive in the Ginetta Junior Championship next year; this is the most prestigious junior car championship in the UK. He received some media training from ITV’s Louise Goodman, who does the media for the British Touring Car Championship and has worked with big stars like Jenson Button and other F1 drivers. He also completed a Sim session in the Simtrack Ginetta G40 which was coached by multiple British car racing champion James Kellet.
What a fantastic experience Jai and we look forward to hearing all about the scholarship competition.
