House Music Competition
This month the House Music Competition got underway with the Rock and Pop musicians doing battle in the Theatre. It was a wonderful evening following on from the very successful Christmas Rock Concert at the end of last term. Twenty musicians played in a variety of bands and performed nine different songs from Twist and Shout by the Beatles to Heart-Shaped Box by Nirvana. Guest adjudicator Mr Chris Boot commented on the very high standard of all the bands and awarded first place to a performance of Valerie by The Zutons given by Jeremiah S, Megan T, Hugo D, Zechariah A, Kayleb M, Henry A-E and Tom C.
Well done to all other musicians: Harry Z, Harrison M, Alyona V, Grace T, Matilde G, Kiara N, Eddie A, Theo A, Lucien S, Alex P, Ian L, Andrew F and Jai L.
Sponsored Row for School House
The boys of School House completed a sponsored row. They had aimed to complete the distance of 66k, equivalent to swimming the British Channel in both directions. A fantastic effort by boys across all year groups saw them complete just over 100k, managing a distance just over three ‘crossings’. Particular congratulations to Lower Sixth pupil Jake P for his organisational efforts.
CCF News
This month nine budding CCF NCOs from the Fifth Form attended a ten-hour leadership course on site run by Sergeant Grinham, an ex Special Forces soldier and performance coach. It was an intensive yet productive day where the students were put through their paces in leading drill, lesson planning and giving presentations. Well done to Nerea K-M, Claire M, Flynn S, Batu B, Joseph S, Verity K, Emily B, Sofiia S and Edgar R for their dedication, resilience and motivation.
