Mediterranean Memories in Málaga
MFL pupils enjoyed an unforgettable week in Málaga, filled with sunshine, culture, and plenty of opportunities to practise their Spanish. The trip began on Sunday with visits to the stunning towns of Ronda and Setenil de las Bodegas. In Ronda, pupils took in dramatic views and explored its rich history, including a tour of the famous Plaza de Toros de Ronda (the Bullring of Málaga), where they learned about the city’s bullfighting traditions. Setenil, with its houses built directly into the rock, offered something entirely different—an unforgettable place to wander through and experience first-hand.
Monday started with Spanish lessons designed to deepen pupils’ understanding of Andalusian culture and language. That afternoon, they made the most of the sunshine with a visit to the beach—some more prepared with sun cream than others! Later, the group explored the heart of Málaga, admiring its mix of Spanish and Moorish architecture and visiting highlights such as the Málaga Cathedral and the much-loved El Pimpi Bar, a local favourite full of character.
After Tuesday morning’s lessons, pupils visited the Alcazaba, a striking Muslim fortress that overlooks the city and offers sweeping views of the coast. The afternoon brought a lively treasure hunt around the city centre, encouraging everyone to practise their Spanish and connect with local people.
Wednesday followed a similar rhythm, with a final morning of lessons and some time to unwind on the beach. In the evening, the group headed to Málaga’s port for the highlight of the week: a peaceful boat ride at sunset across the Mediterranean.
The trip was a perfect balance of language learning, cultural discovery, and shared experiences. Pupils returned with stronger Spanish skills, a deeper understanding of Andalusia, and plenty of stories to remember from a very special week in Málaga.
