Lancing College sees £6.5m investment in Sports Facilities
Over the next few years, Lancing College will see the completion of a £6.5m investment in Sports Facilities spread across three major projects. These developments will elevate the school’s facilities to reflect the excellence of its provision and the values of the College, that sport is a core part of a Lancing education. As regular visitors to the College site, students at our three prep schools will also benefit from this enhanced provision with regular access.
- In June, the College swimming pool will reopen following a nine-month, £2.6 million comprehensive refurbishment programme. The project has included upgrades to the pool’s integral operating systems and swimming facilities, as well as the creation of a new reception area. Swimming is a popular and competitive sport at Lancing and is led by former GB Swimmer and Lancing College Alumni Charlotte Malik.
- Continuing from this, the College is planning a significant further investment of £4m in its sports facilities which includes developing a multi-sport indoor facility beside the College’s grass tennis courts to be completed by September 2027.
- Additionally, and subject to planning permission, there will be a completely new Astro on the College’s Dyke field, this will be completed in September 2028. It will have a 2G surface which will enable its use for multiple sports.
These strategic investments are designed to support pupils at all levels, from those discovering sport as a source of confidence and personal development, to those to those demonstrating long-term dedication in pursuit of sporting excellence.
It is a visible, long‑term improvement that will benefit pupils now and for many years to come, supporting wellbeing, balance and opportunity alongside academic growth. It is about strengthening the experience our pupils have at school.
The College will fund a % of this second investment via a fundraising campaign which will be launched in Spring 2027.
Headmaster, Dr Scott Crawford says:
“I am delighted to be able to announce this significant investment at the College.
Parents often tell us that sport plays a significant role in their child’s development: not only in building physical strength, but in fostering confidence, teamwork, leadership and a sense of identity.
“This exciting announcement will align the school’s facilities to match both the quality of our provision and the values we hold so strongly and demonstrates that sport is a core part of the Lancing education, not an optional extra. It will also be an important benefit to students from our three prep schools who are frequently at the College.”
Lancing has a long tradition in sports, today the College’s growing sporting credentials and the success of its teams are drawing families from local, regional, and global markets. It will be significant that they will be able to benefit from these new facilities in 2027.
