Celebrating the Musical Achievements of Lancing College OLs
At Lancing College, we are pleased to have an extraordinary number of exceptionally gifted alumni (OLs) who are making waves both nationally and internationally as musicians.
This Saturday, Will Scotland performed on French Horn with the BBC Symphony Orchestra in the Last Night of the Proms. Earlier this year, Zachary Hayward also played French Horn with the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
Joseph Wicks is enjoying a stellar career as a tenor with Gesualdo Six, touring internationally and releasing a new recording, Radiant Dawn. His sister, Rosanna Wicks, is earning acclaim as a soprano with Tenebrae and other leading choirs. Another outstanding tenor, Tom Robson, continues to perform with some of the UK’s finest ensembles, including Tenebrae and The Sixteen.
Lancing talent is also shining on the stages of the world’s most prestigious opera houses, from the Royal Opera House to Glyndebourne. Earlier this year, Ella Taylor and Florian Panzieri took on lead roles in Ariadne auf Naxos at the Hamburg Staatsoper — Ella as Komponist and Florian as Scaramuccio — an extraordinary double achievement.
At Glyndebourne, Camila Harris has returned to perform as Musetta in La Bohème, Flower Maiden in Parsifal, and cover the role of Contessa in Le Nozze di Figaro. Jack Redman, working as a répétiteur at Glyndebourne, has also seen his compositions broadcast to much acclaim on BBC Radio 3.
Meanwhile, Iris Oliver is forging an impressive path with Genesis Sixteen and developing a career as a bass.
As ever, recent OLs continue to flourish as choral scholars, singing with some of the country’s most distinguished choirs. From concert halls to opera houses, our OL’s have found themselves on some of the world’s most prestigious stages, and we can’t wait to see where their remarkable journeys will lead next.
