Legacy Society marks 20th anniversary

We marked the 1848 Legacy Society’s 20th anniversary with a lunch for members at the Old Farmhouse hosted by the Head Master, Dr Scott Crawford. The guests were delighted to visit the Head Master’s private residence and for many it was their first time at the house and an opportunity to talk individually with him. The Head Master said one of his aims for the College is to ensure a strong position for it going into the next decade and the 1848 Society was helping to achieve this, and that is why it plays such a key role in the school’s future. He said he really appreciated the generosity and spirit of the Lancing community and had decided in his first term to become a member of the 1848 Legacy Society as he too wanted to make a deeply personal commitment to Lancing’s future and his time here.

The 1848 Legacy Society’s purpose has never been more important for the College, and its growing numbers show that OLs and parents recognise this. Andy Whitehouse (Sanderson’s 1990-1995) and Chair of the Foundation Council says, ‘Legacy gifts through the 1848 Society are a particularly special way to pay tribute to the College. A donation made as part of your legacy highlights an institution that made a lifelong difference: it sends a message about the power of that foundation to shape lives.
