OL Sports Day 2026
It was fantastic to welcome so many OLs back to the College for the inaugural OL Sports Day, a celebration of sport, community and lifelong connections. The event brought together former and current pupils for a day packed with competitive fixtures, friendly rivalry and plenty of memorable moments.
Played in excellent spirit throughout, every match showcased the strength of the College sporting tradition, with close contests keeping players and spectators engaged from start to finish.
The cricket fixture provided one of the most dramatic finishes of the day, going right down to the final over before the Rovers secured victory . Netball was equally competitive, with the OLs claiming an impressive 14–12 win.
In boys’ hockey, the OL side edged a closely contested game 2–1, while the current pupils produced a dominant performance in girls’ hockey to record an 8–1 victory.
Tennis proved another highlight, with current pupils winning three of the five matches to secure a 3–2 overall victory.
Away from the action, players and spectators gathered to enjoy match teas, with strawberries and cream proving especially popular and adding to the traditional summer sporting atmosphere. The day offered a wonderful opportunity for OLs to reconnect with friends, current pupils and staff and reminisce about their sporting days at the College.
When the points were totalled, it was the OLs who emerged victorious, edging the overall score 3–2 to become the first winners of the OL Cup 2026.
A huge thank you goes to all the players, supporters, Lancing College Sports staff, Foundation team and catering team who helped make the inaugural OL Sports Day such a success. The enthusiasm, sportsmanship and camaraderie on display ensured a memorable occasion for everyone involved.
With such a successful first event, excitement is already building for next year’s competition.
