School Refurbs over the Summer
Over the summer holidays various areas of the school underwent extensive refurbishment work. This has further enabled the expansion in pupil numbers that has been achieved, especially in boarding.
Saints’ House has been expanded into three floors, with a larger common room on the ground floor and additional work areas upstairs (full article on Saints’ can be found here).
In Teme House the main lobby on the ground floor has been decorated in lighter colours, with new furniture. The Sixth Form extension has also been redecorated, with new flooring and doors. This is a self-contained part of the House, an ideal place to gain independence and responsibility.
Manor House has been expanded with the addition of ‘Manorside’, a self-contained block situated near the Swimming Pool. The new building will host between 10–15 Sixth Form girls, with Assistant Housemistress Emilie Harlow and Resident Tutor Jenny Champ. The new block includes 12 pitts, a common room and office space for staff. Girls boarding in Manorside will continue to be in the care and direction of Ms Edwards, Manor House Housemistress.
The Sports Hall has also undergone some important work, with a new refurbished lobby now including three toilets (one accessible), new cladding and external LED lighting, and a new landscaped area opposite the main entrance.
Eight classrooms in Great School have been refurbished to allow ‘teaching wall’ units, new flooring and LED lighting. To continue with the school’s commitment towards sustainability, eight electric car charging points were installed outside Teme House, in the Main Car Park and outside the Estates Office.
