Sporting Highlights – Friday 8 November 2024
A few highlights to report from the end of last half term:
Football
In the final week before Half Term, the House Football Sixes competition took place. In the Junior competition on Tuesday, Head’s and Saints’ made it through to the final in what was a tense encounter. 0-0 after normal time, the game went to Golden Goal, and it was Saints’ who struck the decisive blow, Francis R scoring a spectacular winner on the volley, into the roof of the net, to give Saint’s House the Victory.
For the Seniors, Gibbs’ and School House made it through to the final and an outstanding bicycle kick and goal-of-the-season contender from Zac A-J gave Gibbs’ House the victory.
Inter-house swimming
Also at the end of last half term we held the Inter-House Swimming Competition. There was a fantastic turnout of new and familiar faces across all the Houses.
In the Junior Girls’ category: Manor 3rd, Handford 2nd, and Field’s won.
For the Junior Open (including boys’ Houses and Saints’): Gibbs’ in 3rd place, Saints’ 2nd place and School House the winners.
In the Senior Girls; competition: 3rd place Handford, Manor 2nd, and Sankey’s won.
In the Senior Boys’ category: School and Saints’ tied in 3rd place, Second’s took 2nd, and Head’s House the overall boys winner.
Teme House earned the award for ‘best supporting House’ for their outstanding team spirit.
Good luck to Nam S who has been selected to represent the Sussex Senior 3rd Badminton team this weekend; she will be competing against some of the best counties in the UK.
Congratulations to Bibi W who has been selected to play with the U15A girls Sussex Cricket team; after two intense trials she has made the team!
