Summer 2026 highlights
This Summer Term has been one of the most action packed of them all. As we reflect on the many memorable moments we have shared, it is almost impossible to believe they have all taken place within a single term.
Alongside the outstanding energy, curiosity and enthusiasm of our pupils, we see daily the embodiment of our first school aim: to Love Learning. Whether in the classroom, on stage or out on trips, our pupils approach each opportunity with genuine engagement and intellectual curiosity. We are immensely proud that the dedication and expertise of our staff in nurturing this love of learning have been recognised on a national level too, a powerful testament to the strength and shared vision of our whole community.
Our school continues to grow and flourish, bringing with it even greater opportunity through richer experiences, wider collaboration and an ever more dynamic environment in which our pupils can thrive. Most striking has been how this growth has strengthened our sense of community, rooted firmly in our second school aim: to Be Kind. This is evident in the way pupils support one another, work collaboratively and contribute so positively to school life.
This term, our pupils have also strongly embraced our third school aim, to Go Out into the World and Do Good. Through House events and initiatives such as the Bannister Mile, they have raised funds with enthusiasm and purpose. A particularly moving example was our Chamber Choir’s visit to Avon Manor in Worthing, where they performed for residents living with dementia. Their singing brought genuine joy and served as a powerful reminder of music’s ability to connect, uplift and evoke memories. Our pupils approached the visit with great maturity and empathy, making it a rewarding experience for all.
One of the standout moments of the year was our much anticipated annual Third Generation Day, a surprise event designed to create memories that pupils will one day share with their own grandchildren. This year, pupils from Years 1 to 8 travelled to the Isle of Wight, beginning with an exciting hovercraft journey across the Solent. The day unfolded with games, beach picnics and shared activities in a wonderful coastal setting, creating a truly memorable experience filled with laughter and companionship. Back at school, our younger pupils embraced adventure during a brilliantly themed Pirate Day, immersing themselves in imaginative activities, storytelling and creative play. It was a joyful celebration of curiosity and childhood wonder.
Sport has, as always, played a central role in school life. Sports Day was expertly organised and full of energy, enthusiasm and healthy competition. Pupils demonstrated not only impressive athletic ability but also teamwork, determination and excellent sportsmanship, making it a memorable occasion for the whole community.
Our annual production, performed over three nights at Lancing College, was another highlight. Newsies the Musical, the inspiring story of young newspaper sellers standing up for fairness and justice, was brought to life with outstanding energy, talent and teamwork. From confident lead performances to a vibrant ensemble, the production was polished and engaging throughout. As one reviewer described it, “a triumph… slick, funny, with top notch acting, singing and dancing.”
Beyond these events, what truly defines LPW is the voice and involvement of our pupils. Pupil-led committees such as the School Council, Green Team and Food Committee continue to flourish, providing meaningful opportunities for leadership, responsibility and contribution. It is inspiring to see how thoughtfully pupils engage with shaping their school experience.
Trips and residentials have once again provided invaluable opportunities beyond the classroom, fostering independence, resilience and strong friendships. For many, the chance to camp overnight at school was a particular highlight, offering adventure, teamwork and lasting memories.
Across the term and the year, the sheer breadth of opportunity has been remarkable. Through sport, the arts, leadership and outdoor experiences, our pupils have been encouraged to explore, challenge themselves and discover new passions.
Above all, this term has been a powerful reflection of what it means to be part of Lancing Prep Worthing. Our pupils have shown a genuine love of learning in all they have embraced, a deep kindness in the way they support and care for one another, and a growing sense of responsibility to go out into the world and do good. These three simple but profound aims lie at the heart of everything we do, and it has been a joy to see them lived out so fully in the life of the school this year.
