Lancing College appoints OL Henry Ellinger-Gane as new Development Director
Lancing College is delighted to announce the appointment of OL Henry Ellinger-Gane (Head’s/Second’s 2001-2006) as its new Development Director from November 24 2025, working alongside the College’s new Head Master, Dr Scott Crawford, and Diana Cree, Executive Director of External Relations.
In this role, Henry will lead Lancing’s fundraising activities and work with the College’s many generous donors and supporters. OL Catherine Reeve (Sanderson’s 1976-1978), Lancing’s current Foundation Director, has decided to take well-deserved retirement in 2026 after more than two decades of outstanding service to the College.
Henry comes back to Lancing with high-value fundraising experience from youth-focused charities including Centrepoint, Whizz-Kidz, and Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) Charity, where he played a pivotal role in its landmark “Build It Beat It” campaign. His strategic leadership and partnership-building skills at GOSH helped him secure more than £21 million in gifts, contributing to a total of £175 million raised across the organisation.
Henry’s connection to the College is both personal and profound. His five years as a pupil at Lancing were, in his words, “life-changing,” giving him a well-rounded education and lifelong friendships. Henry and his wife Kathryn met as pupils at Lancing; they married in the school chapel. As a member of Lancing’s Foundation Council since 2023, Henry has seen first-hand the impact of the College’s Foundationers Campaign, which has changed the lives of more than 50 young people in the past decade. His passion for the College and its mission makes him a uniquely compelling advocate for its future.
Dr Scott Crawford, Head Master of Lancing College, commented:
“Lancing runs through Henry like the message in a stick of Brighton rock. His proven success in leading philanthropic efforts at major institutions makes him the ideal professional to lead the College’s development strategy with vision, energy, and authenticity.”
Henry’s love of sport also reflects his deep ties to the Lancing community past and present. He has proudly represented the Lancing Rovers Cricket Club, a connection that will resonate strongly with many OLs, parents and supporters.
Henry joins a highly successful Development Office, where he will report to Diana Cree. He will also benefit from working alongside Catherine Reeve, who will continue to work with the College exclusively on the 1848 Legacy Society.
Everyone at Lancing warmly welcomes Henry back to the College, and looks forward to supporting him in his work.
