Sporting Highlights – Friday 11 October 2024
Tennis
After finishing top of their league in the Summer Term, the U16 boys and girls travelled to Sevenoaks last Friday to play in the Southeast knockout stages of the LTA Youth Schools tournament. After a slow start in round 1, the boys regained composure and adjusted to the fast pace of the indoor courts, playing to their strengths and putting up a good fight in the second round. Some high level and impressive doubles points demonstrated by Logan B and Ben A proved entertaining, and the boys made their opposition work hard for the overall win. However it was Jacob T’s performance in his singles which gained the team’s MVP, showcasing excellent baseline exchanges and movement on court.
Drawing the short straw, the girls took to the outdoor courts. With Third Former Olivia M making her debut, the team faced a strong Sevenoaks opposition. Despite some close points, and games that went to deuce many a time, it was not enough to take the overall win on the day. MVP was awarded to Coco M for her dominant 6-1 performance in the singles.
