¡Olé! Our Unforgettable Trip to Málaga and Córdoba
Just before the end of the Summer Term, 18 enthusiastic Fourth Form students set off on an exciting five-day adventure to southern Spain, accompanied by Ms Espiga, Mrs Stockel and Mr Nollet. From the very beginning, the trip was full of energy, sunshine and unforgettable experiences.
The trip kicked off with a guided tour of Córdoba, a city rich in history and culture. We explored the famous patios, bursting with colourful flowers and traditional Andalusian charm. The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the breathtaking Mezquita-Catedral de Córdoba, a unique architectural wonder that left everyone in awe. However, with temperatures soaring to a scorching 42°C, some students found their own creative way of coping with the heat – declaring ice cream to be an essential survival tool!
Back in Málaga, the itinerary was packed with a wonderful mix of learning and fun. Pupils stayed with host families, where they had the valuable opportunity to practise their Spanish in real-life situations and experience authentic Spanish culture firsthand. This was supported by lessons at a local language school, helping everyone to build confidence and improve their communication skills.
There was still plenty of time for relaxation and adventure too. Students enjoyed trips to the beach, where they could unwind and cool off in the sea. A particular highlight was the catamaran trip along the coast complete with music, sea views and even a spontaneous dance-off with a neighbouring boat!
Another memorable experience was learning how to make traditional Spanish tapas. Students rolled up their sleeves and got involved, discovering new flavours and skills along the way.
Above all, the most rewarding part of the trip was seeing the students bond so well and enthusiastically practise their Spanish throughout the week. It was wonderful to watch their confidence grow with each passing day.
A huge thank you goes to Ms Espiga, Mrs Stockel and Mr Nollet for making the trip such a success. It’s safe to say that this Spanish adventure will be remembered for a long time to come!
