Girls’ House Hockey
During our final week of the Advent Term both our Junior and Senior Hockey players enjoyed an afternoon of very competitive House Hockey.
In the Junior event the defending champions Handford looked to secure the trophy for another year. With all Houses very well supported on the pitches on a lovely wintery day, the stage was set. The group stage saw some very competitive hockey; many games were incredibly close but Sankey’s started to pull away at the top of the table.
With Sankey’s through to the final, Saints’ and Handford battled in the semi final; it was a very close game with the win going to Saints’.
The final between Sankey’s and Saints’ could have gone either way! The teams could not be separated in regulation time and penalties were needed to decide the winners. A very tense shootout followed, with Sankey’s just edging it and becoming this year’s Junior House Hockey champions.

Senior House Hockey
Our Senior event was very well supported. with the Juniors fresh from their event eager to watch the Senior girls compete for their Houses. As with the Junior event, the group stage was a very close affair with very little to split the teams in many close fixtures. Sankey’s again topped the group and made their way to the final, whilst Hanford and Manor battled to join them. Manor were victorious in the semi final with a 1-0 win.
The Senior final was an excellent showcase for senior hockey as the game was closely contested and high paced. Sankey’s got the winner late on to make the House competition a fantastic double win across Juniors and Seniors.
