Drama

Lancing Prep Hove pupils benefit from dedicated music facilities housed in a separate building on our campus. This well‑equipped space includes teaching rooms for class lessons, individual practice rooms, and areas for tuition from our team of peripatetic music teachers.

Our modern school hall also provides an excellent venue for concerts and musical performances, offering pupils a supportive and inspiring environment in which to share their talents.

Drama is introduced as part of English lessons from Year 4 onwards, where pupils explore areas such as film narrative, character development and the dramatic techniques used within texts. As they progress into Years 7 and 8, pupils study selected Shakespeare plays alongside novels that lend themselves to dramatic interpretation, helping them develop confidence in analysing and performing a wide range of literature.

Drama is also taught by a visiting specialist, and pupils have the opportunity to take external New Era Academy Speech and Drama examinations, further supporting their performance skills and building their confidence on stage.

Pupils show strong development in creative areas of learning, such as music, drama and art.
