Drama

Drama is vibrant at our school. It is a rich learning experience for all our pupils; it builds self-confidence and public speaking skills. Many pupils audition for parts in our annual productions, they appear not just on the stage but also assisting with front of house and backstage roles. There is literally something for everyone to get involved with, and they do!

Drama is studied within English lessons in Year 4 and above and pupils study topics such as film narrative and dramatic techniques employed in text. In Years 7 and 8, the examination curricula include the study of selected Shakespeare plays, most recently A Midsummer Night's Dream along with novels that are commonly dramatised, such as Lord of Flies by William Golding.

Drama is also taught by a visiting Drama teacher and pupils take external New Era Academy Speech and Drama examinations.
