We understand that every child is unique and they develop and learn in different ways. We develop positive relationships with each pupil and our staff work with each child individually, and in groups, to bring out the very best in every pupil.
Pre-prep pupils develop awareness of the world around them, making intelligent observations about their environment and showing an excellent understanding of cause and effect.

About the Curriculum
Children in both Pre-School and Reception follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, which is based around seven areas of learning - Communication and Language; Physical Development; Personal, Social and Emotional Development; Literacy; Mathematics; Understanding the World; Expressive Arts and Design.
The pupils work towards a set of Early Learning Goals and their progress is logged weekly in our Tapestry Online Learning Journal, which is shared with parents.
Staff develop outstanding relationships with children and as a result of this in depth knowledge they know the pupils very well and are therefore able to base the curriculum on the child’s interests and gently move their learning forward when the child is ready.
Learning in our Pre-School and Reception classes is delivered through a fun and creative play-based curriculum and all children thrive during their time with us. The Early Years Curriculum initially focuses on the primary areas of Physical Development, Personal, Social and Emotional Development and Communication and Language before moving on to specific areas, when phonics, reading, writing, maths and humanities and arts areas are covered.
Pre-School and Reception classes receive specialist lessons in music and physical education, which includes swimming at Lancing College. Creative artwork plays an important part in the curriculum and the colourful displays in the classroom and around the school help to make a bright and stimulating learning environment.
