Cricket at Lancing dates back to 1857, where the earliest team was captained by G Woodard, the son of Lancing’s founder Nathaniel Woodard. Cricket has since become one of the most popular and successful sports at the College.
Cricket is the main sport for boys in the Summer Term. Lancing has always had a reputation for cricket and our current boys are certainly living up to it. We are also very proud to have a very successful girls’ cricket team, who have lost only one game this past season.
Our Cricket department is run by Mr Rajesh Maru, an ex-professional player who has represented Hampshire and Middlesex.
This year a group of our cricketers were lucky enough to tour to South Africa, where they played against local teams and received specialist training, as well as going on safari and seeing the stunning scenery.
