Mrs Fern Britnell

Fern graduated in Biochemistry from Keele University, after which she completed a PGCE and taught at Gosford Hill School in Oxfordshire, where she was Head of Chemistry. After this, she moved to Bloxham School in Oxfordshire, where she was Assistant Housemistress of Raymond House and Head of Third Form.

As Housemistress of Sankey’s, Fern now lives on the school grounds, adjoined to Sankey’s, with her husband Will and two children, Charlie and Lyra. As well as teaching Chemistry, she is a member of the Lancing Scouts ‘Minerva Unit’. As a surgeon at Worthing and Chichester Hospitals, Will enjoys putting prospective medical students through their paces by carrying out mock interviews, and both Will and Fern help to run the popular ‘Medics Club’. Fern loves running with Timmy, the Sankey’s House pet Labrador, and she is frequently lost in the Downs on days off. She also enjoys cycling, skiing, and, after a busy day of exercise, curling up with a good book.
