Sporting Highlights - 2 December 2022

Football
On Thursday, the 1st XI progressed into the quarter finals of the ISFA Trophy with an outstanding comeback beating Brighton College 4-3. After going behind early on, they rallied back with goals from Harry S (2), Henry H and Seb F.

Following this and in the penultimate weekend of the season, Lancing had seven wins, two draws and just one loss in what was an incredibly successful weekend of football. Unbeaten runs continued for the 2nd, 3rd and 5th team, with wins also for the 1st team, U15A and U15B team.

Our team of the week after gaining their first win of the season was the U14B team. They ran out 3-2 winners over Kent College after an incredible performance which we are all extremely proud of. Star Player with two goals in this match was Yoon K.

Hockey
Our weekend block against Brighton College was a challenging one. The 1st XI started the game positively and had some very good phases inside the first 20 minutes. However, Brighton were the stronger team on the day scoring 4 quick goals; Lancing fought back and battled hard in the second half and the game finished 4-0. Most Valuable Players were Poppy S, Grace C and Annabelle G.

The U14As started well, but Brighton took an early lead of 1-0. Moments after the goal the U14As fought straight back to manoeuvre the ball down the pitch which created the perfect opportunity for Polly E to slap the ball into the goal making it 1-1 before half time. Although the U14As played very well, we were unlucky to see Brighton take the lead once again in the final moments, finishing the game as a 2-1 loss. MVP Grace H.

Match of the day was awarded to the U15As who travelled away to Sussex Uni to take on Brighton College. The game was incredibly close and both teams went into half time with the score at 1-1, with the Lancing goal scored by Bella B. The game continued be a close affair until a well-worked move saw Harriet B the recipient of what turned out to be the winning goal, and finishing 2-1 Lancing. MVPs went to Kitty H and Harriet B.

Basketball
An undermanned basketball team faced off against a strong Michael Hall team in the last game before the Christmas break. Debuts from Charlie D and Ben C, who stepped up and performed brilliantly, helped the team start strong and stay strong. Lancing were overall winners 77-31. This takes the team's record to an undefeated 6-0 this term.

Golf
Our golf team beat KES Whitley last Thursday 3-0 the semi-final of the ISGA plate with wins for all members of our team. Well done to James S, Will P and Connor H. They have secured their place in the final – good luck to all involved.
