Hosting a competitive Sevenoaks side, the team competed well in the tricky weather conditions with wins secured in the singles from George H and Ralph H 6-4, 6-1. Hockey news
The 1st XI welcomed PGS last Saturday. Lancing dominated possession throughout the first half and took a 1-0 lead scored by Fintan H into the half time break. The side continued to apply pressure and created a host of chances but were unable to convert. PGS managed a flurry of goals in the last 10 minutes of the game, ending in the fixture in a hard fought 3-1 defeat. The scoreline not doing the game justice with Lancing left ruing their missed chances.

MVP - Harry S and Charlie F.

U15A v PGS (a): The Lancing U15As, away to PGS, took the lead in the first half after a shot from Shimon M was deflected into the goal. PGS quickly equalised not long after the restart and the game continued to be a breathless end-to-end battle. Another break and counterattack down the left put Gethin W through one-on-one with the goalkeeper and a deftly finished goal meant we went into half time 2-1 up. A hard fought, goalless second half saw us hang on for the win against a strong, skilful PGS side. MVP awarded to Gethin W.

The U15Bs showed vast improvements. Despite going 2-0 down, Lancing didn’t give up and scored. Whilst showing to be stronger the side did not have the time left in the game to equalise. Overall a positive performance. Coach's MVP - Jack B; Players' MVP - Harrison P.

The U14B had a positive start to the game, but were unfortunate to conceded a goal. Lancing came close on multiple occasions and managed to hit the post a record FIVE times in the second half until a well-worked goal came from Gibrille B. A 2-1 loss, but plenty of positives to be taken going forward. A Brilliant effort from everyone. MVP was awarded to Jack R.

However, match of the afternoon goes to the 2nd XI with their 3-0 win. With a penalty awarded early on Charlie G stepped forward and confidently put the home side 1-0 up. Luca B then increased the lead with a well-taken open-play goal. Lancing had another penalty late in the second half, which saw Austin J score to seal the result with a 3-0 victory. MVP was Austin J.

The U16As travelled to Tonbridge School for the latest round of the England Hockey National Championships. Lancing rose to the challenge in the first half and took a 4-1 lead in the half time break.

The second half saw the opposition bring it back, and with only 5 minutes remaining Tonbridge had reduced Lancing's lead to a single goal. Three minutes later the home team equalised at 4-4, meaning the game would be decided on penalty shuffles. After the initial round of 5 shuffles the scores were still level. Sudden death followed with Tonbridge taking the honours on the third set 6-5. A brilliantly contested game with Lancing left feeling what might have been.

MVPs were Finton H and Alex McG.

Scorers: Bryn H (2), Alex G (1) and Finton H (1).
