Just before we head off for a well-deserved Half Term break, we have lots to celebrate from across all sports in the past 10 days.

Hockey news
Last Thursday the 1st XI welcomed Hurst. A very strong performance with multiple goal scorers and some outstanding team work on the day, with Lancing taking a 9-0 victory. MVP was awarded to Cal N.

Hockey at the weekend saw a block fixture vs Ardingly. Notable performances on the day came from our 1st XI, U15A and U14A.

The 1st XI played at home and followed on from their excellent performance in the week, managing a 2-0 win vs a strong Ardingly side.
Goals came from captain Harry S, and Max W. MVP was awarded to Charlie F.

The 14As battled against a very competitive Ardingly A team. As the Lancing pressure built, the inevitable goal came and was scored by Coco M from the top of D, earning Lancing an impressive 1-0 victory. MVP was awarded to Casper F.

The U15As started the game well, with some excellent marking and a disciplined forward press. Chances on goal fell to both teams, but it was Ardingly who scored first, and led at the halftime break. With 10 minutes to go in the match, a well worked Lancing penalty corner resulted in Bryn H slotting the ball nicely into the bottom left of the Ardingly goal. The game finished 1-1 – a well-deserved draw. Our U15A are still undefeated going into the Half Term break.
MVP was awarded to Bryn H.

In Badminton news, we say a huge congratulations to Nam S following her success for Sussex at the weekend, winning all of her matches with Sussex winning 11-9 overall.

Tennis news
We had two Senior boys' teams in action at Bede’s last week in the LTA year 11–13 tennis league. With the As progressing through to knockouts, the afternoon was shaping up to be a good opportunity for some competitive match practice for both teams.

A close win for Sam Y and Artem O in the doubles set the tone, with the boys having to dig deep in the tie break, but it was Magnus D who was the only one to achieve the double, winning his singles 6-1 and doubles 6-2, partnering Johan M. However, player of the day goes to Alex K for his performance in his singles match and taking the impressive 7-5 win against Bede’s 2nd team's No.1 player. We wish the boys and girls U18A teams the best of luck as they progress through to the knockout stages after Half Term.

Congratulation to Ben A who won the Compton’s U16 boys Grade 5 tournament at the weekend, defeating his opponent in the third and final set to take the overall win, and to Coco M who won her first Ladies' Open Grade 4 in Sutton, again fighting back to take the overall win in the second set tie break.
